Sam Smith cancels Australia tour dates
'This kills me,' Sam says on Instagram

MANILA, Philippines – Sam Smith has announced that he won’t be continuing with part of his Australia tour, saying that he need to rest after suffering a hemorrhage on his vocal cords.

He posted the news on Instagram, saying: “I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords. The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal cords have healed, otherwise this could be a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. We will be announcing rearranged dates very shortly. This kills me.”

According to the official website, shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth were canceled.

There’s no news yet on whether shows after his Australia dates will push through. He is next scheduled to perform in Tokyo, Japan (two shows on May 7 and 8), and then make a stop in Manila (May 10), all sold-out shows.
