What Toni Gonzaga loves about married life
Toni says she and husband Paul Soriano continue to discover new things about each other all the time

MANILA, Philippines – Toni Gonzaga, the new wife of filmmaker Paul Soriano, is most definitely enjoying married life, she said.

In an interview with reporters at the media announcement of her new project Written In Our Stars, Toni said that she continues to discover new things about her husband – for example, that he’s more organized than she is. (IN PHOTOS: Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano marry in beautiful Taytay wedding)

Mas malinis siya sa akin. Yung damit niya color -coded, well folded, akala ko OC (obsessive compulsive) na ako!” Toni said in jest.

(He’s much neater than me. His clothes are color coded, well folded and I thought I was already OC!)

As for Paul’s discoveries about her, Toni said that her husband loves her cooking.

Asked how life is since the wedding,  Toni said she loves coming home to her husband and just spending time with him as much as she can.

“Someone’s waiting for me to come home, waiting for me para kumain para sabay kami kumain, hindi pa natutulog kasi gusto niya ako makausap. Before, family inuuwian ko; ngayon, I’m going home to a husband. Ang sarap pala ng buhay may asawa. May kakampi ka, may partner ka. If you have a long day or bad day, someone can cheer you up when you go home. Sarap ng pakiramdam,” Toni said.

(Someone’s waiting for me to home, waiting for me so we can eat together, will not sleep because he wants to talk to me. Before, I went home to my family, now I’m going home to a husband. It’s really nice to be married. You have someone who will side with you, you have a partner.)

Although she enjoys being a wife, Toni admits that one of the things she had to adjust was running a household, most especially taking care of the bills.

“It’s hard! Tinawagan ko mommy ko. Sabi ko mom, galing mo. Hindi ko alam paano mo nabubudget lahat. Ako na lahat– ng bills, sweldo ng staff, yung tax! Nashock ako. Sumakit ang dibdib ko sa tax!”

(I called my mom. I told her, ‘mom you’re so great. I don’t know how you were able to budget everything. I am in charge of everything – the bills, payment of the staff and the tax! I was shocked. My chest hurt from the tax!)

No limitations from Paul

Toni also clarified that Paul did not give her any restrictions when it comes to her work in showbiz since he himself works in the industry as a director. (Paul Soriano’s sweet gesture for Toni Gonzaga after the wedding

“Wala naman conditions so far, kasi yung soap namin doesn’t require yung mga daring, yung mga sexy. That’s one thing that also made us (the cast of Written In Our Stars) say yes. Very wholesome, the family values we are going to impart. Talagang pampamilya (it’s for the family),” Toni said.

“Of course, you are blessed with a partner that understands your line of work. Syempre dahil director siya, naiintindihan niya yung sistema sa industry, nirerespeto [niya], and that’s one things I’m thankful for sa kanya na alam niya yung commitment ko sa trabaho

(As a director, he understands the system of the industry and he respects it and that’s one of the things I’m thankful for to him because he knows my commitment to my work.)

“And at the end of the day, it’s just a matter of communication and assuring your partner that he’s still your priority. And yung mga ginagawa ko may permiso (what I do now, I have his permission),” she added.

As for baby plans, Toni said that she and Paul have discussed it, but they want to finish their work commitments first.

“Not definitely during the span of the show. I gave my word to the show and my commitment to the show so tatapusin namin iyon (we’ll finish that). So may be next year or next next year.” – Rappler.com
