Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz to star in new Lav Diaz film

MANILA, Philippines – Actors Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz have been cast in Lav Diaz’s new film currently shooting in Lake Bulusan in Sorsogon.

On Instagram, director Paul Soriano who serves as producer of the film under his film company Ten17P posted two photos including a scene between Piolo and John Lloyd. According to a report from the Inquirer, the film’s working title is Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis with Star Cinema as one of the companies backing the film.

In the same Inquirer report, Paul said that the shoot went well. Other members of the cast include Cherie Gil, Bernardo Bernardo and Alessandra de Rossi, among other stars.

The Lav Diaz film is supported by The Hubert Bals Fund of Rotterdam and Asian Project Market of Busan.

Lav’s film Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon (‘From What Is Before’) was nominated last February at the 2015 Asian Film Awards. The said film also won the coveted Golden Leopard prize at the Locarno film festival in Switzerland last year. – Rappler.com
