MANILA, Philippines – Just when it seemed things were quieting down, the drama continues. Rapper Nicki Minaj called out pop star and host Miley Cyrus onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) Sunday, August 30 (Monday, August 31 in Manila).
Onstage to accept her award for Best Hip-Hop video for "Anaconda," Nicki said: "And now back to this bi*ch that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what's good?"
“We’re all in this industry. We all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate. Nicki, congratulations,” said Miley afterwards, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Earlier, Miley spoke to the New York Times, weighing in on the VMA nominations issue brought up by Nicki that resulted in a misunderstanding between Nicki and Taylor Swift.
"If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.'"
"What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about. Now you’ve just given E! News 'Catfight! Taylor and Nicki Go at It.'"
Back when the nominations were announced, Nicki had tweeted her disappointment that "Anaconda" was not nominated for video of the year, saying "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year." Now Nicki never actually mentioned any names in her tweet, but Taylor, whose star-studded "Bad Blood" music video was nominated for Video of the Year, responded, saying that she had always loved and supported Nicki, and that it was uncharacteristic of Nicki to bash other women. Since then, the two have patched things up – performing together onstage at the VMAs. Miley later said that she wasn't a huge fan of Taylor's "Bad Blood" video, either. – Rappler.com
