‘Norte’ chosen as PH Oscars entry for 2015

MANILA, Philippines -The Lav Diaz 4-hour movie Norte: Hangganan ng Kaysaysayan has been selected as the Philippines’ entry to the 87th Academy Awards.

Actress Angeli Bayani, who won the Best Actress Award for her role in the movie at the Gawad Urian Awards last June, also confirmed the news on her Instagram account. 

“Norte is the Philippine entry to the Oscars for foreign language film. Huzzah! #NorteTheEndOfHistory #NorteHanggananNgKasaysayan #TeamNorte #LavDiaz #epic #longform #film #love #passion #cinema #art #wazak,” the caption read, with a link to a story online. 

Lav Diaz's other movie Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon (From What Is Before), won the Golden Leopard prize last August.

Norte was one of the favorites at the Cannes Film Festival last year and has already won much recognition in the industry.
