MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe fever is on! The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced that at least 10 candidates will join the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach at a welcome party to be held on Saturday, December 10.
Those confirmed to attend the party at Conrad Hotel are from the countries of Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and USA.
“Pia Wurtzbach is extremely excited and so proud that this is happening in the Philippines during her reign for all the world to see,” Teo said in a press release.
The ladies are set to arrive on Friday, December 9, and will stay in the country for a week. They will visit and tour Cebu, which will host the swimwear presentation in January.
They are also expected to pay President Rodrigo Duterte a visit in Malacañang, together with Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina.
In the same press release,DOT Undersecretary Kat De Castro said that they will soon announce ticket prices on the 65th Miss Universe website.
As early as July, it was confirmed by the DOT that Manila was the host of the pageant, but the news was only confirmed by the Miss Universe Organization last November, when Pia herself made the announcement through a video post.
The pageant will be held on January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena, where more than 90 candidates are expected to participate. It will be shown in the Philippines via ETC. – Rappler.com
