Ms PH Earth 2013 LIVE poll results

MANILA, Philippines – In line with the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 pageant’s water conservation theme, this 25-year-old medical assistant says, “Require all schools and universities to educate the students and everyone on how we can contribute and act on this worldwide project.”

Describe your childhood/growing-up years (8-13 years old):

Since my mom is a former nun, she gave way for her kids to have a strong Catholic foundation. I grew up studying in an exclusive private Catholic school. My classmates were mostly well off and I was one of those students who were on a tight budget and so I kind of developed an inferiority complex.

My childhood days were very vague. But I remember that I didn’t like playing with dolls. In fact, I got scared of them. I always chose to play with my brothers’ toys instead.

Most memorable moment:

My 3-day blackbelt seminar and examination for karate.

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?

My environmental advocacy is to alleviate poverty through ecotourism. I chose this advocacy because the Philippines is rich in natural resources, raw materials, and unmatched biodiversity but unfortunately, the Filipinos are not able to maximize the potential use of these environmental treasures due to poverty.

Finding a solution to slowly eradicate poverty is both a short and long-term process. And with this, I would like to make a call to all Filipinos that the earlier we educate ourselves of the ill effects of what we do to the environment, the better it will be for our Mother Earth’s future.

And as an adult, it would be best to start teaching the children of our nation on how they can help save and protect the environment in their own simple ways. Children are the future of any nation and so they should be the core of all our goals. By empowering local families to engage in an environmental-friendly consciousness, it guarantees a quality of life that is sustainable for generations to come. One child at a time. One step at a time.
