Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell speaks up on detractors
What does Jamie have to say about people who believe she won because of the 'home court advantage'?
MANILA, Philippines – New Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, the pageant’s Philippine delegate, said that she would rather keep quiet over rumors that she won the title because the pageant was held in the country.
“Sometimes you can’t change the minds of people that think that way, I just have to keep quiet on that,” she said during an interview on The Buzz Sunday, November 30.
“This is actually this is the home of Miss Earth, Philippines. It’s a Filipino pageant, it started here. And for all of its 14 years, it’s only been held once outside. And we’ve only won once, before me, which was Karla Henry in 2008. So for me, it’s not really a home court advantage, because at the end of the day, it really depends on how much you work for it, and if it’s meant for you.” (READ: Cebuana Jamie Herrell talks about her Miss Earth 2014 win)
Jamie said that she did not expect to win the title considering there were many girls who were very beautiful and taller than her.  When asked what was her advantage, the 20-year-old Cebuana said: “ Honestly I don’t really know what it is. ‘Cause all I just do is enjoy on stage, and I’m just you know, enjoying the whole ride and the whole journey.”
While she will be busy to attending to her duties as Miss Earth, Jamie said that she is open to try acting in theater and television – but not musicals, since she says she cannot sing.
“I would love to become an actress but for me it’s more of a passion. I don’t mind if it’s off-Broadway…straight plays but if it’s on TV, it’s alright for as long as I get to do acting.” – Rappler.com
