Photo recap: Highlights, Bb Pilipinas 2016 coronation night

MANILA, Philippines – Organizers pulled out all the stops in an eventful, supercharged Binibining Pilipinas 2016 coronation night, Sunday, April 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

Maxine Medina was crowned the winner of the Miss Universe Philippines crown, along with 5 other queens who will go on to compete in the international pageants later this year.

Hosts KC Concepcion and Xian Lim opened the evening's festivities, introducing the judges. 

Along with the traditional opening number, the ladies introduced themselves to the roaring crowd.

We spotted quite a few celebrities in the audience, too, including Fabio Ide and girlfriend Bianca Manalo, there to support younger sister Nichole Manalo. 

A first set of special awards winners was then announced. 

The swimsuit segment followed, as the latest stepped out in white bikinis:

The ladies then walked onstage for the evening gown portion, in dresses by local designers.

The Top 15 was announced next:

The first Question and Answer portion came next. This year, instead of the ladies picking the judge who will ask them the question, each judge chose a contestant.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach gave her farewell walk and speech as Miss Universe Philippines before the winners were announced. 

The other reigning queens gave their final walk as well, before passing on their crowns. 

Maxine Medina was crowned Miss Universe Philippines, while Kylie Verzosa, Joanna Eden, Jennifer Hammond, Nichole Manalo, and Nicole Cordoves were named as the queens who will represent the country in 5 other international pageants this year.
