'I will do my best to give you a back-to-back win,' says Chelsea

MANILA, Philippines – Chelsea Fernandez left Manila for Albania on Saturday, October 1, to represent the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental pageant.

“Two months ago was life-changing when I was named your [Binibining Pilipinas] Globe 2022. It was God’s precious gift to me and answered from above about my purpose. Today, I am about to leave for Albania as I carry in my heart the Philippines,” she wrote, alongside photos of her wearing a nude ensemble with gold embellishments while waving the Philippine flag.

“I have always been a proud Filipina and I want to share with the globe that we are capable of great things.”

Chelsea also asked for the support of Filipino pageant fans. “I will do my best to give you a back-to-back win in [Miss Globe] and make another [sic] history for our country.” The Philippines’ Maureen Montagne was named Miss Globe 2021, and she is set to crown her successor on October 15.

In a separate post, Chelsea also disclosed that this marks her first international trip: “This journey has taught me that I must step outside of my comfort zone to accomplish my purpose.”

The Binibining Pilipinas organization also shared more photos from Chelsea’s send-off, saying that the beauty queen is “ready to conquer the Globe.”

After arriving in Albania, Chelsea is expected to participate in pre-pageant events. She hopes to win the country’s third Miss Globe crown after Ana Colis (2015) and Maureen Montagne (2021). – Rappler.com
