The Miss Grand International Organization on Monday, February 22, released the introduction video of Samantha Bernardo, who will represent the Philippines at the pageant on March 27.
In the video, Samantha showed one of the country's famous tourist spots – Luneta Park – and her hometown in Palawan. She spoke about the journey to representing the Philippines and being a spokesperson for various causes including the fight to alleviate malaria.
"The whole journey isn't all sweet and I almost gave up on my dream of representing my beloved country," she said.
"My participation in this year's Miss Grand International will be a great challenge – to be a symbol of hope, peace, and unity."
You can watch the introduction video below.
Samantha, who was 2nd runner-up in 2018 and 2019, was appointed to represent the Philippines after Aya Abesamis, who assumed the title after Samantha Lo quit in 2019, was deemed unable to compete due to age restrictions.
Samantha hopes to win the country's first gold crown currently held by Venezuela's Valentina Figuera. – Rappler.com
