Maureen also says that she can't wait to start her 'next adventure' as Miss Globe 2021

Miss Globe 2021 Maureen Montagne reminisced about her pageant journey after she was crowned on Friday night, November 5 in Albania (early Saturday, November 6, Manila time).

“After [six] long years, we did it, Philippines. Thank you for the outpouring of love and support,” she began her Instagram post.

Maureen, who bested 40 candidates in the competition, is only the third Filipina to take home the Miss Globe crown. Philippines’ Ana Colis last won the title in 2015.

She continued, “As many of you know, this journey was long and hard with the pandemic and life’s hardships. We competed in Binibining Pilipinas for almost two years and getting to the Miss Globe stage was such [a] memorable journey.”

Binibining Pilipinas 2020/2021 first announced its roster of official candidates in February 2020, but the coronation night was moved and postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was only in July 2021 when the pageant pushed through, and Maureen was crowned as one of the six titleholders.

“All of our efforts were worth it, my heart is so full of gratitude. All of the work, the wishing, the waiting, and the praying has finally paid off. I can’t wait to embark on this next adventure as your Miss Globe 2021,” the 28-year-old model-host said.

In a separate Instagram post, she also penned a heartfelt message to thank the Miss Globe and Binibining Pilipinas organizations, her team, designers, mentors, and supporters.

“Thank you to each and every one of you who has helped me along my journey. I felt the love and power of my fellow kababayan during my entire Miss Globe journey here in Albania. You guys truly went above and beyond to help me succeed and make my dreams come true,” she wrote.

Fellow beauty queens such as Catriona Gray, Katarina Rodriguez, Nicole Cordoves, Rachel Peters, and Kathleen Paton have congratulated Maureen.

Miss Globe 2015 Ana Colis also left a comment on Maureen’s post. “I’m very happy for you. Thank you for bringing honor to our country…. The Globe is yours to take.”

Maureen’s win comes just a week after another Filipina beauty queen – Cinderella Faye Obeñita – won the Miss Intercontinental 2021 crown in Egypt on October 30. – Rappler.com
