The Miss World Philippines organization announced on Wednesday, November 18 that they have appointed Roberta Angela "Ro-An" Tamondong as the country's representative to the Miss Eco Teen International pageant.
"The Miss World Philippines Organization officially announces the appointment of Miss Roberta Angela S. Tamondong as the Philippine representative to the 2020 Miss Eco Teen International Pageant to be held in Egypt from Nov 25 to Dec 5. Finals night will be on Dec 5. Congratulations and best of luck Roan! We confidently know you will do the country proud," the organization said on its social media accounts.
Ro-an, 18, also announced the news on her Instagram account.
"I am proud to say that I will take part in this year's Miss Eco Teen International 2020 words cannot describe how happy and thrilled I am when I heard the news," she said.
"To the people who helped me in preparation for this year's pageant, I couldn't do this without all of your help. It has been a quick preparation but I will not let you down mga kababayan. Kaya natin to! I will raise our flag In Egypt. Mahal ko kayo Pilipinas."
Prior to her appointment as Miss Eco Teen Philippines 2020, Ro-An competed in the Miss Bikini Philippines 2019, where she placed 1st runner-up. She also competed in several pageants such as the Binibining Quezon City 2019, CatWalk Philippines 2019, and Mutya ng San Pablo 2019. She won Miss San Beda 2020.
Another Filipina, Danielle Dolk, will represent the Netherlands in the pageant. Danielle previously competed in Binibining Pilipinas and holds both a Philippine and Dutch passport.
The Miss Eco Teen pageant is the sister pageant of the Miss Eco International. Miss Eco International aims to promote " environmental awareness and eco-tourism."
The Philippines was represented by Mary Daena Zaide Resurrecion in last year's Miss Eco Teen pageant, also held in Egypt. – Rappler.com
