Philippines’ Parul Shah is 3rd runner-up at Miss Grand International 2015

BANGKOK, Thailand –  The Philippines’ Parul Shah placed 3rd runner-up at the the Miss Grand International pageant, Sunday, October 25. The event was held at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok Thailand.

Dominican Republic’s Anea Garcia won the Miss Grand International 2015 title and suceeded Daryanne Lees Garcia of Cuba. 

Thailand’s Rattikorn Kunsom was 4th runner-up, India’s Vartika Singh was 2nd runner-up while Australia’s Claire Parker was 1st runner-up.

Binibining Pilipinas congratulated Parul for placing 3rd runner-up in the pageant.

In the final round, all 5 contestants were asked one question– who is the influential person in her life? Parul answered she was inspired by her father.

“The most influential person in my life would be my father. I do believe that peace starts at home. I was born by a Filipina mother who is Christian  and an Indian father who is Hindu, in a country that is governed by Muslims.

“And I do believe that we could co-exist together if there is understanding, and when there is no power struggle and no one tries to be above another. I’ve learned this from my father, he taught me that with having humility and respect, peace can ultimately be achieved,” Parul said.

During her speech about the violence around the world, Parul reiterated her stance about choosing peace.

“Our ancestors have died fighting for the life we live today. Let’s honor that by choosing peace, peace for our homes, our children, our future. Peace filled with education, empowerment and understanding. Peace even in the smallest voice, multiplied by millions can transform this world. So join me in one with the world, please stop the war and choose peace,” she said.

Early in the competition, Parul bagged the Best in National Costume award. – Rappler.com
