Rowena “Rowee” Lucero Sasuluya placed 4th runner-up at the Miss Globe 2020 beauty pageant held in Albania on Thursday, November 12.

According to the Miss Globe website, Kosovo’s Lorinda Kolgeci won the title of Miss Globe 2020. Aside from Rowee, her court includes Siberia’s Matveeva Evgenia, 1st runner-up; Ghana’s Naomi Chioma Anene, 2nd runner-up, and Brazil’s Thawany Aparecida De Faria, 3rd runner-up.

Hours before the competition, Rowee posted a message on Instagram, saying she was thinking of the country after the onslaught of typhoon Ulysses.

“Tonight my country, the Philippines, suffers a huge destruction of property and loss of lives due to a strong typhoon. I know this is a very difficult situation for us after dealing with two consecutive storms… But here we are! Standing and fighting,” she said.

“I dedicate this competition to all my countrymen to stay strong and keep the faith that we can survive this trial as we all work together especially with the help and prayers of community of nation across the Globe,” Rowee added.

Aside from being 4th runner-up, Rowee also won the People’s Choice award.

Rowee’s runner-up finish in the pageant is the latest for the Philippines. In 2019, Leren Bautista finished 2nd runner-up.

Deliart Association, the group behind Miss Globe, invited Rowee to take part in the competition after the pageant was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus. Rowee was a Binibining Pilipinas 2019 candidate. – Rappler.com
