Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee gave words of encouragement for Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo, as activities for the 69th Miss Universe competition began.  

On Sunday, May 9, Shamcey addressed Rabiya in an Instagram post. “You continually surprise us with your tenacity and drive to be better everyday. All your hard work and sacrifices have led you to the Miss Universe Competition and I am confident that you will continue to make us proud,” she wrote. 

“Just remember that you are already a winner no matter what,” she continued. 

Shamcey also acknowledged the efforts of the Miss Universe PH team who handled Rabiya’s training, schedules, and other pageant activities: “Grateful to the whole Miss Universe Team lead by our directors: @albert_andrada @supermariogarcia @lianderamos @sigulanon, who tirelessly worked day and night to make sure we bring Rabiya safely to Miami, most especially to our creative director, @jonasempire.ph, for making things happen despite all the setbacks and challenges.” 

She then thanked the Filipino pageant fans who continue to support Rabiya. “Para sa inyo ang laban na ito! (This fight is for you),” Shamcey declared. 

“The journey to the Universe wasn’t easy, but it’s definitely worth it.” Shamcey, who won 3rd runner-up at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, also revealed that she is flying to Florida to support Rabiya in the pageant activities and coronation night.

On Saturday, May 8, Rabiya arrived at the official hotel for the Miss Universe candidates. Since then, the Philippine bet has been sharing behind-the-scene snaps from the pre-pageant activities. 

The Miss Universe coronation night is scheduled on May 17, (May 16 in the USA). Filipino pageant fans can watch the competition live on A2Z channel starting at 8 am. – Rappler.com
