In an interview with reporters at the press screening Friday, August 7, Piolo said he was happy to be busy doing both mainstream and independent films, to the point that his love life might sometimes have to take the back seat.
“Sa sobrang busy natin, I don’t think I would have time for anything else for now.
“I’m happy to be watching a mainstream film I’m part of, and then something so different a couple of weeks after. And then do a black and white movie with John Lloyd [Cruz].
"It’s all fun,” Piolo said.
Busy with his career, Piolo said he is very cautous of entering a new relationship. His last relationship in the spotlight was with KC Concepcion and he was linked to Shaina Magdayao after doing On The Job.
“Of course, definitely [mas picky ako ngayon]. (I'm more picky now.)
“My pastor told me that the more na pinapatagal mo, (you prolong it) the more you become comfortable being single.
“It becomes so complicated and difficult kasi parang (because) you only get to choose once.
“The more I enjoy being single. The more I enjoy, not necessarily dating, but just only my time. Nakakatakot ‘di ba? (It's scary right?)
“But, you know, yun nga lang, e. Parang ‘di ka dapat nagpapaapekto doon sa edad mo, sa panahon, sa sinasabi ng ibang tao. And then just see where it goes,” he said.
(You should not let age affect you, the time, what people say.)
“The reason why I am single is I want to check out…I just wanna be able to move for myself… why rush it?
"You know, I’ve come to that point in my life na hindi ko iniisip yung mga (I don't think about the) set of requirements mo or values that I’m looking for in a girl. When it falls into place, when it happens, you don’t need to think of things. You have certain goals in life but you just go with the flow, and if it happens, it happens,” he said.
He is also happy to be working with co-star Rhian Ramos, whom he said was a revelation in the film.

"Rhian was a surprise. As much as we belong to two different networks, we don't get to watch each other naman di ba? Hindi kami mag-stay sa TV primetime para manood (We don't stay and watch primetime TV) because we have things to do.
"With the kind of intensity that she showed, with the kind of commitment that she showed, na challenge ako (I was challenged)...It was requiring her to do more... so I have so much respect for her. Doon ako kumbaga sabi ko 'kung ano ang binigay ni Rhian, ibibigay ko rin.' (Whatever she gives, I'll give, too.) Ergo our scenes are so intense because we enjoyed it.
"I really could see that she enjoyed the ride, sa set lang siya bago matapos ang shooting, as much as [things were] intense, very serious siya. Off cam, wala kami ginawa kung hindi magbiruan, magtawanan and it was a fun set," Piolo said. (At the set after the shooting, as much as [it was very] intense, she was very serious. Off cam, we did nothing but joke, laugh at each other and it was a fun set.)
In Silong, Piolo plays the role of Miguel, a doctor who is grieving over the death of his wife Caroline. He meets Valerie, a badly beaten woman, while driving. Miguel nurses her back to health. Soon they fall for each other, but things between them are not what they seem.
Piolo said that the role of Miguel is his most challenging character to date.
"It's my most challenging [role], I should say. It's complex, definitely...as an audience [member] myself, I wanna be surprised when I watch. I don't want an ending that I know already," Piolo said.
Silong is directed by Jeffrey Hidalgo and Roy Sevilla Ho. This is the first romantic thriller for both stars. The film will be the closing feature at this year's Cinemalaya Film Festival. (READ: Lineup: Short films competing at Cinemalaya film festival 2015) – Rappler.com
