Netflix announced on Saturday, June 12 the official cast for the live-action series adaptation of Resident Evil

The main cast includes Lance Reddick (John Wick, The Wire) as the infamous villain Albert Wesker. Joining him are Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Paola Núñez (Bad Boys for Life), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), and Tamara Smart (A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting). Netflix has yet to announce the roles they are portraying. 

“I’m so excited to finally announce this,” Reddick said on his Twitter caption. “Get ready to enter New Raccoon City with the cast of the new live-action Resident Evil series: I’ll be playing Albert Wesker!”

Based on Capcom’s popular survival videogame of the same name, the Resident Evil series is set to explore the sinister secrets of Umbrella Corporation almost 30 years after the T-virus outbreak that ravaged cities and infected millions of people. 

The eight-episode hour-long season is produced by Constantin Films who has previously worked on its film series. It is written by Andrew Dabb, with executive producer Bronwen Hughes directing the first two episodes. 

Netflix has yet to announce the release date for the live-action series. Meanwhile, the CG animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is set to premiere on July 8.
