Paramount Plus announced on Saturday, May 15 that the iCarly revival series will premiere on June 17.

“No exploding cake here, just the premiere date for the new iCarly revival,” they wrote alongside a video of the cast. The one-minute snippet featured Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Nathan Kress (Freddie), and Jerry Trainor (Spencer) who all reprised their original roles for the reboot.

It also reveals two new characters – Laci Mosley as Harper, Carly’s roommate and best friend; and Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Freddie’s stepdaughter.

Jennete McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett, Carly’s best friend in the original series, revealed that she will not be returning for the reboot. “I resent my career in a lot of ways,” she said on an episode of her Empty Inside podcast. “I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing.”

According to Variety, the revival series will have 13 episodes featuring Carly in her twenties. She will then navigate her life with friends, love, and family as she deals with being an internet personality.

On Wednesday, May 18, Miranda teased the fans with a video from their set. “An updated set tour of the iCarly apartment with @jerrytrainor. Spencer is very rich now and @jerrytrainor is enjoying it a little too much,” she wrote.

The original iCarly series followed a trio of teenagers – Carly, Sam, and Freddie – who manage a famous web show wherein they learn to deal with internet rivalries, make hilarious content, and figure out how to get more viewers. The show ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons, from 2007 to 2012 . – Rappler.com
