ABS-CBN releases a statement on March 21

ABS-CBN has announced that they are temporarily suspending the live staging of daily noontime program It’s Showtime due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.

In a statement released Sunday, March 21, ABS-CBN shared that this is to “ensure the safety of our hosts and production team.” The company is also hoping for the viewers’ support and understanding over this decision.

ABS-CBN made a similar move in March 2020, when the government first declared a lockdown in Metro Manila. The show then returned in June 2020.

As of March 21, the Philippines has now 663,794 confirmed cases after the Department of Philippines (DOH) announced 7,557 new cases on Sunday. This is the second highest one-day count since the pandemic began, next to the March 20 tally of 7,999 new cases. – Rappler.com
