Marvel Studios has confirmed the development of Captain America 4, tapping The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s showrunner Malcolm Spellman to write the screenplay for the fourth film in the franchise.
Head writer Spellman will co-write the script with Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the Disney+ limited series. The team is already working on Captain America 4, just after the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ on Thursday, April 22 (US time).
According to a report of the The Hollywood Reporter, the fourth installment will most likely delve deeper into the story of Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) as the current wielder of the iconic shield.
Details on the show’s director, official cast, and release date have not been confirmed yet.
Before working on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Spellman was a writer and co-executive producer on Fox’s Empire and acted as a consulting producer on crime drama Truth Be Told.
Chris Evans starred in the three previous Captain America movies: The First Avenger (2011), The Winter Soldier (2014), and Civil War (2016). He retired from the role in Avengers: Endgame. – with reports from Jewel Camacho/Rappler.com
