Shortly after Netflix dropped its first teaser, the streaming giant released another trailer for its upcoming cartoon series, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, ahead of its July 23rd release date.
The two-minute trailer features the guardians of Grayskull, He-Man, Orko, and Man-at-Arms as they deal with the aftereffects of the Sword of Power’s destruction, as well as the dwindling magic supply in Eternia.
The trailer also shows Teela, daughter of the Sorceress and Captain of the Royal Guard, as she finds a way to piece together the broken Sword of Power.
Going up against the heroes are Skeletor and the forces of Snake Mountain.
The show, which was announced in 2019, is produced by Mattel Television. Animating the show is Powerhouse Animation Studios (Castlevania). It will be a 10-episode series split into two parts, picking up from where the 1983 cartoon of the same name left off.
Kevin Smith is co-producing the show with Robert David. Smith is also co-writing with Marc Bernardin, Eric Carrasco, Diya Mishra, and Tim Sheridan.
The series stars Chris Wood voicing the iconic He-Man alongside Sarah Geller, who voices Teela.
Also joining them is voice acting legend and Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, who voices the antagonist, Skeletor. The cast also includes Liam Cunningham (Man-at-Arms), Kevin Conroy (Mer-Man), and Griffith Newman (Orko), to name a few.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a 1983 children’s cartoon about Eternia’s prince, Adam, who defends his planet from the evil Skeletor. By holding up the Sword of Power and proclaiming the words “By the power of Grayskull,” Prince Adam transforms into the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man.
The 1983 cartoon ran for two seasons with 65 episodes each. Its popularity spawned multiple action figures, animated and live-action films, and even video games. – with reports from Adrian Soriano/Rappler.com
