'The Flintstones' are coming back!

Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) announced that Elizabeth Banks will voice Pebbles Flintstone in the adult spin-off series Bedrock, according to a Deadline report.

Bedrock will follow the Flintstone family over two decades after the events of the original series and movie. In the Fox series, Fred will be on the brink of retirement as a 20-something Pebbles begins her own career. The series will also see the Flintstones transition from the stone to the bronze age.

Banks, known for her roles in the Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect movies, will also co-produce the series. The pilot script is being written by Lindsay Kerns, whose credits include Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and DC Super Hero Girls.

Michael Thorn, Fox’s president of entertainment, said: “[The Flintstones and Bedrock’s] imprint on the animation universe is undeniable and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at Fox are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros.”

The original The Flintstones series was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and ran for 6 seasons from 1960 to 1966. It followed the lives of the Flintstones and their next-door neighbors, the Rubbles, and was set in the stone age. – Rappler.com
