HBO released on Thursday, May 20 the first images of Theo James and Rose Leslie in the series adaptation of 2003 Audrey Niffenegger novel The Time Traveler’s Wife.
“Love > time. The Time Traveler’s Wife starring Theo James and Rose Leslie, is officially in production. An intricate and magical love story, adapted by Steven Moffatt and directed by David Nutter, is coming soon to HBO Max,” they wrote in the caption.
The Time Traveler’s Wife follows the love story of Henry DeTamble and Claire Abshire, who have to deal with DeTamble’s ability to time travel in their marriage.
Rose Leslie, who is known for her roles in Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, will play the role of Claire Abshire while Divergent star Theo James plays Henry DeTamble.
Abshire is described as “fiery, clever and unstoppable” who has “an imaginary friend” – who she will come to learn as DeTamble, a time traveler from her future.
DeTamble suffers from a condition wherein whenever “he’s stressed or worried – and sometimes for no reason at all – he loses his grip on the current moment and falls naked into the past or the future.”
The six-episode series is helmed by former Doctor Who showrunner and Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffatt. “The chance to adapt the novel itself is a dream come true. The brave new world of long form television is now ready for this kind of depth and complexity,” he said in a statement to Deadline.
“It’s a story of happy never after – but not necessarily in that order.”
A release date for the series has yet to be announced. – Rappler.com
