Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin teamed up for their first web series Saying Goodbye, saying that the project is their most mature yet.

Mas nahirapan kami sa ibang mga eksena dito. Mas mahirap ‘yung roles, mas malalim siya. Mas seryoso at mas mature kami…. Talagang a different side of us,” said Andrea in an online press conference on Tuesday, November 23.

(We really had a hard time working on some scenes here. Our roles are more complex [compared to our previous ones]. We’re more serious and more mature…. It’s really a different side of us.)

In Saying Goodbye, Andrea will play Elise, a medical student whose best friend Ricky (Seth’s character) has a heart disease. The actress said, “Hindi lang siya tungkol sa love eh (It’s not just about love), it’s about friendship and we’re also tackling situations like death in the series.”

Compared to her previous characters, Andrea shared that Elise is the “most normal character” that she has portrayed. “Siya ‘yung pinaka-grounded at pinaka-realistic na nagawa ko kaya nahirapan talaga ako. Kasi sanay ako sa teleserye na sobrang drama at heavy. Pero ito, kahit heavy ‘yung plot, kailangan kong gawing magaan,” she said.

(She’s the most grounded and realistic character that I’ve portrayed. That’s why it was hard for me because I was used to heavy dramas. But here, even if the plot was heavy, my character had to make everything light.)

For his part, Seth said that playing a gravely ill character taught him the value of life – which is what he wanted viewers to learn from their upcoming series. “Sana ‘wag nila tingnan ‘yung death bilang deadline kundi bilang motivation para gawin ‘yung mga bagay na gusto nila,” he shared.

(I hope they won’t see death as a deadline, but as motivation for them to do the things they’ve always wanted to do.)

Saying Goodbye is part of the multi-title content deal iQiyi signed with ABS-CBN.

Andrea said, “We just really feel a lot of pressure since this will be seen by a wider audience. We’re trying to push ourselves beyond our limits to make the fans happy from the Philippines and internationally.”

Seth added that while they’re nervous about this huge project, they’re still grateful for it. “Blessing ‘to eh, pero ang blessing na ‘to, may halong responsibilidad. Kaya proud kami dito (It’s a blessing. But this blessing also comes with responsibilities. That’s why we feel proud of this),” he said.

Also starring in Saying Goodbye are former Pinoy Big Brother: Connect housemates Andi Abaya and Kobie Brown. Talking about their first project together, Andi said that it was a learning experience, “All the cast, they made this experience extra special, extra fun. And it’s something I’ll treasure in my heart.”

Saying Goodbye is set to premiere in iQiyi on December 4. – Rappler.com
