The actor says that he's done playing straight characters

Wentworth Miller, the star behind drama series Prison Break, has confirmed that he is “out of the show officially,” in case a 6th season arises.

In a November 9 Instagram post, the 48-year-old actor said that his decision isn’t because of “static on social media,” although that has “centered the issue.” He said that many had bullied him on his own page.

“I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I’m sorry,” he wrote.

“If you’re hot and bothered because you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one…That’s your work,” he added.

Miller publicly came out as a gay man in August 2013. In an open letter to the organizers of Russia’s Petersburg International Film Festival, he expressed his disdain over the “current attitude and treatment” of the Russian government towards homosexual men and women.

Fox Entertainment announced in January 2020 that Prison Break was being potentially revived for a 6th spin-off season. Its 5th season aired in 2017, with the previous installments running from 2005 to 2009. Miller starred in all seasons. – Rappler.com
