MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Claudine Barretto filed a temporary protection order (TPO) against her husband Raymart Santiago on Monday, July 29, reports ABS-CBN.

Barretto filed the TPO before the Marikina Regional Trial Court with her lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio.

According to Topacio, the actress had been planning this move for some time, and it was her security and that of her children that prompted this decision.

Ang hinihiling namin dito ay hindi makalapit si Mr. Raymart Santiago sa aking kliyente at sa mga bata, na hindi po magkaroon ng actual physical threat,” Topacio said. (What we’re requesting is that Mr. Raymart Santiago be restrained from getting near my client and her children, so there won’t be any actual physical threat.)

He added, “Marami po kaming hinihiling doon sapagkat napagkaalaman namin na may mga armas na pag-aari, high-powered firearms si Mr. Santiago at ito po ay kasama sa TPO pati ang pagbibigay ng suporta.” (There’s a lot contained in our petition because we learned that Mr. Santiago is in possession of high-powered firearms. This is included in the TPO, and also providing support.)

Claudine is asking for privacy at this time.

In April, Claudine’s mother, Inday Barretto, confirmed that the couple was no longer living together. The news came along with Claudine’s reported rift with Gretchen Barretto.

In a statement sent to Inquirer on Tuesday, June 30, Santiago denied all allegations saying he abused his wife and children.

“It is not true that I’ve abused the mother of my kids in any way. As a father, I will never do anything that would harm my kids. I’ve never lifted a hand against any of them,” he told Inquirer.

He claims Barretto fabricated stories about him, and that there are people who can refute her accusations.

“These people could also prove that [Barretto] is capable of making up stories,” he told Inquirer. “Again, I strongly deny her accusations. The truth will come out eventually. I will answer all accusations in court at the proper time.” – Rappler.com
