MANILA, Philippines – Kapuso mornings are set to be brighter with the return of everyone’s favorite “kumare,” Susan Enriquez, to the morning show, “Unang Hirit.”

The multiawarded broadcast journalist makes her much-awaited comeback as a regular host on Monday, August 26.

Enriquez is tagged TV’s “Boses ng Masa.”

Through the years, she has been consistent with her public persona as a warm and simple TV personality with a comprehensive, no-nonsense dedication in her trade of broadcast journalism.

She has built a steady following among various sectors concerned with consumer, domestic, and barangay issues.

Rejoining the gang

Enriquez says she’s excited to again be part of the “‘UH’ barkada.”

She reunites with “UH” co-hosts Arnold Clavio, Rhea Santos-Guzman, Suzi Entrata-Abrera, Lyn Ching-Pascual, Connie Sison, Pia Arcanghel, Ivan Mayrina, Drew Arellano, Love Anover, Lhar Santiago, Monica Verallo, Tonipet Gaba, and Luane Dy.

“Ang sarap bumalik sa mga dati mo nang nakatrabaho. Ito ang nagpapasaya sa mga ginagawa natin araw-araw at gabi-gabi,” she said.

(It’s a good feeling to be back among your colleagues. This is what gives happiness to our work day and night.)

“Kahit na balik tayo sa paggising ng madaling araw, worth it naman dahil masaya ang samahan sa show at marami tayong mapapasaya at mahahatiran ng mga bagong impormasyon,” Susan says with a smile.

(Even if we’re back to waking up early, it’s all worth it because of the camaraderie in our show and we’ll have lots of fun and new information to bring in.)

Susan will have a new segment with Igan (Arnold Clavio) wherein they will share their views on current issues.

They first met as young reporters in the field of radio broadcasting. Their friendship has lasted more than two decades.

Starting with radio

Susan started her broadcasting career in 1981, as one of the voices on dzBB’s “Newscoop.”

In 1990, she joined the hourly newscast “GMA News Live” as a field reporter.

Her first public affairs program was in 2003, when she hosted “Kay Susan Tayo,” which was also a lifestyle show backed by informative but also entertaining content.

She joined “UH” in 2010. She has also co-hosted GMA News TV’s multiawarded cultural program, “I-Juander.”

Susan is still active in dzBB and now counts as one of the network’s senior reporters. – Rappler.com
