Past troubles, Sid Lucero back to work

MANILA, Philippines – After a brief hiatus from acting, Sid Lucero is back on prime-time television and he gets to work again with Heart Evangelista in the new GMA afternoon series “Magkano Ba ang Pag-ibig?”

Sid, 32, said he is eager to focus anew on his work – after a fairly recent episode involving heartbreak, troubles on the set, and whatnot that sidetracked Sid from his own artistry as a multiawarded Best Actor (with a Gawad Urian on his resume). 

“I admit na hindi maganda ang mga nangyari sa akin nitong mga nagdaang buwan [I admit that things have not gone well the past several months],” he said.

“It was my fault and I just couldn’t handle it well. That’s why I asked for some time to think things over and fix whatever needs fixing.

“Yung mga times na nabigyan ko ng malaking problema ang maraming tao, especially my co-stars, ayokong nang mangyari iyon ulit.” (Those times when I was a problem to a lot of people, especially my co-stars, I wouldn’t want that to happen again.)

“Lahat ng mga palpak na ginawa ko [Everything wrong that I did] in the past, I want to redeem myself from it all. Nagkaroon ako ng magandang direksyon sa buhay ngayon [Now I feel I’m on the right track].

Halo

The change in perspective was prompted by Sid’s baby daughter with musician Bea Lao whom they named Halo – “my inspiration now,” he said.

“I want to show them that I have changed and it’s all because of my baby – the smallest person I truly love now.”

Sid said he has no second thoughts about working with Heart Evangelista whom he dated before.

“When we were doing [the teleserye] ‘Legacy,’ we went out a couple of times. That was when I broke up with Bea [before] and [Heart] broke up with Daniel [Matsunaga]. Pareho kaming [We were both] vulnerable that time, but nothing much happened between us.” Or as he also put it, “Hindi naman naging kami.”

“I eventually got back with Bea and we had a baby. Si Heart naman, she’s happy with Sen. Chiz Escudero.”

Aside from “Magkano Ba ang Pag-ibig?,” which premieres on September 30, Sid will also appear as Andres Bonifacio in the docu-drama “Katipunan.” – Rappler.com
