Level Forward, the production company that's behind plays such as Jagged Little Pill, Oklahoma! Slave Play, acquired the rights to adapt the novel into a stage musical, according to Deadline.
The Queen's Gambit is a 1983 novel written by Walter Tevis that follows the life of orphan-turned-chess prodigy Beth Harmon. The novel was recently adapted into a series, starring Anya Taylor-Joy. The show became Netflix's most-watched scripted miniseries and sparked a chess craze worldwide.
