Recap: ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids’ season 2 week 2 episodes

MANILA, Philippines – The challenges continue in week 2 of Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids season 2. This week, the kids transform into some of the most iconic performers from the Philippines and the international scene.

Here’s a quick recap of performances during the May 12 and 13 episodes.

May 12

Chunsa Jung as Sandara Park

 

For this week’s episode, Chunsa performed 2NE1’s “Fire” as Sandara Park. 

Sharon Cuneta said that aside from being pretty, Chunsa also knows how to sing and dance.

“In my humble opinion, you have a very big chance of taking home the big, big prize here,” she said.

TNT Boys as the APO Hiking Society

 

The boys performed one of Apo’s famous songs, “Mahirap Magmahal Ng Syota Ng Iba,” and were well-received by the judges and audience.

Ogie Alcasid described the performance as “goals.”

“Gusto ko lang sabihin sa inyo na sobra kayong entertaining. Kahit anong gawin n’yo, talagang mapapalakpak kami sa galing ninyo,” the singer-songwriter said. (I just want to say that the 3 of you are very entertaining. Your performances always impress us.)

Apo Hiking Society member Jim Paredes commended the performance in a tweet. “I enjoyed this. Ha ha ha.”

Sheena Belarmino as Whitney Houston

 

From last week’s transformation as Sarah Geronimo, Sheena transformed herself into Whitney Houston and sang the song “I Have Nothing.”

Despite losing her voice before the competition, the judges praised Sheena’s performance.

Marco Masa as Moira dela Torre

 

Marco Masa performed Moira dela Torre’s “Titibo-tibo.”

Gary said that Marco’s performance was a surprise for him because in the age of biriteras (powervbelters), Marco’s transformation was “relaxing.”

“It was perfectly imperfect. Kumbaga, kahit hindi exacto, okay pa rin eh. (In other words, it was not exact but you did well.) And I have to put my hands together for you because you did an excellent job,” he said, referring to the way Marco sang the song.

MAY 13

Esang de Torres as Cher

 

Esang channeled her inner diva, transforming into Cher and singing to one of her smash hits, “Believe.”

Sharon Cuneta said: “You are a little girl with such a big voice. It was so unexpected kasi yung mga kinakanta mo hindi ganyan di ba (because the songs you usually sing are different)? Biglang nag-Cher (And then you chose Cher). That was a very good job.”

Onyok Pineda as Apl de Ap

 

For this week, Onyok dressed up as Apl de Ap, singing the song “Bebot.”

Ogie Alcasid told Onyok he was “shookt” and that Onyok’s comedic flair added to his performance.

Krystal Brimner as Stevie Wonder

 

From channeling Miley Cyrus in last week’s performance, Krystal transformed into Stevie Wonder and performed the song “Overjoyed.”

Ogie said that Krystal was able to capture Stevie’s voice, while Gary said he was clapping non-stop because of Krystal’s performance.

Noel Comia Jr as Pepe Smith

Noel went rock and roll in this week’s show as Filipino rockstar Pepe Smith and singing the song “Beep Beep.”

All the judges said that Noel did well and gave justice to Pepe Smith, an icon in the Philippines.

“Ang nakita ko ngayon gabing ito ay isang tunay na astig,” Gary told Noel. (Tonight, you showed the right swagger.) 

“Ginawa mo ito in a total package – acting, singing, and speaking. So yung buong character ni Pepe Smith, nakuha mo for your age.” (You delivered the total package — acting, singing, and speaking. So you got the whole character of Pepe Smith at your age.)
