RECAP: Cardo Dalisay’s adventures in ‘Ang Probinsyano’
Cardo's character has gone through a lot in the past 3 years

MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN’s top show FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has always been in the headlines – it is, afterall, the longest-running show still on-air today.

Of late, however, it’s been grabbing headlines since police and top government officials, including Interior Secretary Eduardo Año expressed displeasure over the alleged unfair portrayal of police in the show. (READ: DILG to meet ‘Ang Probinsyano’ producers for ‘honest discussion’)

In the teleserye, Coco Martin stars as SPO2 Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay, who in the beginning pretends to be his late brother, Ador (who was also a cop).

Cardo has since embarked on an adventure as a police officer, friend, husband, vigilante, and more (yes, more). (READ: What you need to know about ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’)

Cardo, suffice to say, has been through a lot. And if like many of us, you’ve failed to follow every twist and turn in the long-running series, don’t worry – we got you.

Here’s a quick recap of his adventures so far:

Cardo takes the place of his brother Ador

The show begins with Cardo and his brother Ador becoming police officers. After the death of Ador, General Delfin Borja (Jaime Fabregas) asks Cardo to take the place of Ador. This resulted in a reunion with Cardo’s grandmother Flora (Susan Roces).

After he is unmasked as Cardo, he finally reunites with the family he grew apart from.

Framed for drugs

Cardo finds himself framed up for the alleged illegal possession of drugs by his mortal enemy Joaquin (Arjo Atayde) and Don Emilio (Eddie Garcia).

Inside prison and the escape

Cardo is imprisoned. There, he endures torture. He then escapes prison and vows to clear his name.

Marrying his love and becoming a father

Cardo finds love in the person of Alyanna (Yassi Pressman) and marries her despite Joaquin crashing their wedding. They have a son, Ricky Boy.

Cardo and Alyana’s relationship hits a rough patch rocky after the death of their son and their brief separation. After almost giving up on their relationship, Alyana gives Cardo another chance.

Enter: Paloma

As “Paloma,” Cardo rescued victims of slavery under Madam Olga (Gina Pareno). He transformed into “Paloma” again to stop Ella (Vice Ganda), who had been victimizing foreigners.

He has also assumed several aliases in different missions, going by the name Arthur, Rico, Edward, Boy, among others.

Vigilante/NPA rebel

Cardo “retires” from the police force and enters the rebel group Pulang Araw as part of his under cover work. As he navigates around their world, he discovers that the group is not as bad as it seems.

Cardo and Vendetta, the group he founded, are hiding from police after they rescued the president, Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago). Hidalgo was overthrown in a scheme by the vice president (Edu Manzano). The vice president works with the police chief Alejandro Terante (Soliman Cruz) in his plot.

They also face a new threat in Don Gustavo, who is revealed to be Don Emilio, after he survived the clash between him and Vendetta
