Nickelodeon’s Blue gets a new show name and host

MANILA, Philippines – Your favorite cartoon dog Blue is back, and this time she’s bringing along more clues, a new show name, and a new stripe-wearing buddy.

The Nickelodeon show revival will now be called Blue’s Clues & You, and will still star Blue alongside her new friend, Joshua dela Cruz.

The 30-year-old actor is Filipino-American and is a theater natural, having acted for Broadway’s Aladdin adaptation beforehand. He is set to appear in all 20 episodes of the show.

And guess who scouted him? Steve Burns, the original host, who gave the show’s new star his personal seal of approval. 

“I had the great honor of being a part of the search for the new host, and I give Josh two thumbs up! He can definitely fill my shoes, and the rugby shirt,” Steve said in an in interview with Huffington Post. 

“I know that they saw thousands and thousands of people. And when we saw Josh, I turned to everyone and said we can start filming tomorrow. He was phenomenal from day one.”

“The search for the new host of Blue’s Clues & You was no small task, but we knew as soon as we met Josh that he was the perfect choice,” said Nickelodeon Group’s executive vice president Shelly Sumpter Gillyard.

“From his genuineness to his comedic timing and range, there was no doubt that he could carry the show on for the next generation of preschoolers.”

The famous Nickelodeon children’s show aired from 1996 to 2006. It followed Blue, an animated dog, who, with Steve’s help and the audience’s participation, leaves a trail of clues in the form of paw prints to help solve a puzzle. – Rappler.com
