Lea Salonga on Season 4 of ‘The Voice Kids’: We have a good crop

'They all seem all driven, hardworking, just good human beings'

MANILA, Philippines — The Voice Kids Philippines season 4 is returning this year and all 3 mentors — Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah Geronimo – are looking forward to the show after a two year break.

In an interview with reporters during a set visit on Wednesday, July 3, Lea, who’s done various projects since the show last aired in 2016, said all of them felt recharged.

“It’s nice to have a long break, we had two years off but it’s like riding a bike. You sit in the chair again… [it’s] like we never left. But we don’t feel burned out,” she said.

Coach Lea only had good things to say about this year’s batch of singers.

“They all seem all driven, hardworking, just good human beings. At the end of the day I pray for that… talent will get them in and all that but you hope that during coaching sessions, rehearsals, stuff like that, they keep a good head on their shoulders. That they are not blinded by all these, it’s crazy. But yeah, I think we have a good crop of kids.”

Lea said it’s been a interesting round of blind auditions so far.

“It’s been a very interesting blind auditions and there’s kids who are great in rehearsal but all of a sudden when they know we’re here, the performance channges. It falters and the nerves get better of them.”

“And there are some at rehearsal like mewh, which I don’t get to hear, just hear from the staff, and then once they’re up on the stage, they know that we’re here, the audience is here, something clicks and the high pressure turns them on. And that gets exciting, it’s exciting for everyone in the studio because even we can’t predict what’s going to happen,” she said.
