She’s back: 'Gossip Girl' gets a reboot
MANILA, Philippines – Rumor has it that Gossip Girl is getting a reboot series, and that rumor is 100% true.
The popular CW teen drama is coming back, but this time, on HBO Max, the new streaming service of WarnerMedia Entertainment.
According to an E! News report, the upcoming show will have 10 episodes following a new elite group of wealthy kids from Manhattan. The spin-off will pick up 8 years after the original show left off.
Original Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are returning as executive producers, while Joshua Safran, original executive producer, will also be writing the new series, still based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar.
News on the official cast has yet to be announced.
Gossip Girl grew to pop culture fame as an iconic teen series about rich socialite teens from the Upper East Side living among scandals, lies, deceit, and messy relationships, under the eye of an unidentified texter with a hold of secrets against them.
The show gave celebrities Serena van der Woodsen (Lively), Blair Waldorf (Meester), Nate Archibald (Crawford), Chuck Bass (Westwick), and DanHumphrey (Badgley) their big TV break.
