‘High School Musical’ gets revival TV series on Disney+
Wildcats, are you ready for the start of something new? Check out the first trailer here!

MANILA, Philippines – Disney made it clear that this is neither a reboot nor a sequel – it’s the start of something new.

Disney’s High School Musical franchise is being revived for a new TV series entitled High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which launches on its streaming service Disney+ this coming November.

The first trailer debuted at the D23 Expo on Friday, August 23, showing a new cast, starring Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Dara Renee, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, and Larry Saperstein.

Set as a mockumentary, The Musical: The Series will follow a new set of East High drama club members, competitively vying for roles for the school’s first production of High School Musical.

As expected, it isn’t all rainbows and butterflies – while romances brew and friendships form, they’re also tested by rivalries and love triangles in the process. Watch out for HSM’s iconic throwback songs!

The 10-episode young adult series is executive produced by Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush, the duo behind the original High School Musical films, alongside Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Ugly Betty). Zach Woodlee (Glee, Dumplin’) will be choreographing.

High School Musical: The Series premieres on November 12 on Disney+. – Rappler.com
