‘Grace and Frankie’ to end with season 7 on Netflix

MANILA, Philippines – Good news: Grace and Frankie is being renewed for another season. Bad news: Its upcoming 7th season will be its last.

The final season of Netflix’s original comedy series starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin will have 16 episodes, for a series total of 94 episodes, making it the longest-running original series of Netflix to date.

“We are both delighted and heartbroken that Grace and Frankie will be back for its 7th, though final, season,” Fonda and Tomlin said in a joint statement, according to a CNN report.

“We’ll miss these two old gals, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans will, but we’ll still be around. We’ve outlasted so many things – just hope we don’t outlast the planet.”

“Grace and Frankie has expertly and hilariously demystified the experience of growing older and given a voice to the fastest growing segment of our population,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original series.

“They have become role models for fans that span generations around the world, and we are so proud to have been a part of the show’s journey from day one,” she added.

The show’s 6th season will premiere on Netflix in January 2020. The release date for its final season has yet to be announced.

Grace and Frankie premiered in 2015. The series revolves around lead characters Jane (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) and their surprise of a lifetime – that both their husbands are actually gay and are leaving their wives for each other. 

Created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, the Emmy-nominated series also stars Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, and Ethan Embry. – Rappler.com
