MANILA, Philippines – After ending its 10-season run on Cartoon Network in September 2018, cartoon series Adventure Time is finally returning to the small screen. 

HBO Max has ordered 4 one-hour specials of the Emmy-winning show from Cartoon Network Studios, set to exclusively premiere on the WarnerMedia streaming service.

According to a Variety report, the collection of specials is entitled Adventure Time: Distant Lands.

The first special, BMO, will follow the adventures of the “little robot,” while the second special, Obsidian, will star Marceline and Princess Bubblegum on their way to the Glass Kingdom to prevent an “earth-shaking” disaster. 

The third special, Wizard City, will revolve around Peppermint Butler as a new, inexperienced Wizard School student, and the last special, Together Again, will have Finn and Jake together once again as they embark on a very important adventure while rekindling their brotherly bond.

The first two specials will launch in early 2020, while the last two will premiere on a later date.

“The enchanted world of Adventure Time has mesmerized viewers and critics alike as Finn and Jake right wrongs and battle evil,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max in a statement.

“The addition of these specials to the HBO Max kids and family programming lineup is sure to make kids everywhere say ‘Slam-bam-in-a-can,'” she added.

Adventure Time was a groundbreaking series and a creative playground for so many talented creative artists,” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer at Cartoon Network Studios.
