The rest of the McGuire family is coming back for new ’Lizzie McGuire’ series

Disney Channel

Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas are reprising their roles in the revival of the hit Disney Channel series from the early 2000s

MANILA, Philiipines – It isn’t just Hilary Duff who’s reprising her role in the new Lizzie McGuire series – she’s bringing along the rest of the fam!

On Friday, October 25, Disney announced that Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas will be joining Hilary in the cast for the upcoming revival of the early-2000s Disney Channel hit series.

The original series ran from 2001 to 2004, and followed the life of Lizzie McGuire (Hilary), a teenage girl navigating school and growing pains with the help of her best friends, family, and her animated alter-ego.

The show also spawned the film, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, in which Lizzie gets mistaken for an Italian pop star on a school trip to Rome.

Hallie and Robert originally played Jo and Sam McGuire, Lizzie’s sometimes-embarassing, but always well-meaning parents. Jake played Lizzie’s annoying little brother Matt.

On Instagram, Hilary, Hallie, and Jake posted about their joining the cast.

Hilary shared a photo of the 4 of them on set, with her holding what looks like a script. “We are standing in what will soon be the McGuire living room. What’s up fam. We doin this,” she said.

“[Hilary Duff] and I are going bra shopping,” said Hallie, referring to the immortal Lizzie McGuire episode where Jo takes Lizzie shopping for her first bra.

“When the reboot hits like,” said Jake, in the caption to a photo of him getting hit by one of the red balls in the show’s original title sequence.

In the upcoming new series, Lizzie is all grown up and living in New York City as an apprentice interior designer. Like many of the show’s original audience, she is now getting ready to enter her 30s.

The series will air on Disney’s upcoming streaming platform, Disney+, which is set to launch in the United States in November. – Rappler.com
