Meet Vanjoss Bayaban, the new 'Voice Kids' champion
MANILA, Philippines – On Sunday, November 3, Vanjoss Bayaban's won the finals of The Voice Kids Philippines at Resorts World Manila.
Vanjoss, 12, joins the roster of singing champions under the mentorship of Sarah Geronimo. She also coached Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto during season 1 of the kids edition.
The win was a sweet victory for Vanjoss who will celebrate his birthday this month.
Vanjoss, who hails from Asingan, Pangasinan, has one wish: for this mother Evelyn, a domestic helper in Hong Kong, to come home.
He impressed the 3 coaches right off the bat – Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah all turned their chairs for him.
Vanjoss eventually picked Sarah to mentor him.
He continued to impress not only the coaches, but also viewers, as he moved towards the finals.
During the first day of the finals on Saturday, November 2, Vanjoss performed the song "Habang May Buhay" with Sarah. He also performed another song, "Titanium."
For his final number, he performed "You Raise Me Up."
In an interview after winning the grand prize, Vanjoss said that his dream finally came true and thanked those who supported him during his journey.
"Sa lahat po ng supporters ko po, maraming-marami salamat po. Kasi po, natupad na po yung pangarap ko po na minimithi ko and sa Panginoong Diyos po na nagbigay po sa akin ng talento po. Super thankful ko po kasi natupad na po yung pinapangarap ko po."
