At his young age, Karl never expected to venture into IT, let alone manage a team. It wasn’t until he joined Accenture in the Philippines that he discovered the range of possibilities that come with a career in tech.
Having entered the company with minimal experience in programming, Karl was surprised to find an array of training and mentorship programs that quickly turned him into an expert. Now as a manager, Karl oversees the development of customer service solutions for big clients.
Leadership is not an expertise. Leadership is constant learning.
Karl, programmer and manager in Accenture in the Philippines
Karl admits he is still growing as a manager, but has found that practicing empathy is a necessary step towards leading a team. In the same way former supervisors have guided him in his career, Karl continues Accenture’s tradition of mentorship by regularly checking in on his team members, especially during these trying times.
In this episode, Karl shares how a dynamic work environment rife with learning opportunities shaped him into an agile leader.
