Matthew Encina is a known name in the Los Angeles advertising scene. A former creative director at the agency Blind, Matthew has guided multiple Emmy, Clio, and Webby award-winning campaigns over the past few years. Now, in 2020, he’s taking a much-needed break.

My goal is to slow down, take off all obligations on my plate, and slowly put one thing back on at a time.

Matthew’s zen-like approach traces back to his work at The Futur, Blind’s marketing education platform headed by Chris Do. Now an independent creative, Matthew’s been devoting more time to publishing content on his own YouTube channel, which currently has over 200,000 subscribers.

When creative people are asked to do something, we know how to do it. But until somebody asks us, ‘How did you come up with that?’ – that’s when most people get stuck.
