Remember Angelo Casimiro, the teenaged tinkerer who built his own life-sized Star Wars BB8 droid? Well, now he’s an adult engineering an electric motorbike, among many other gadgets and gizmos you’ll find on his Tech Builder YouTube channel.
Having tinkered with technology since the age of 4, Angelo attributes his scientific and artistic genes to his grandfather and father, respectively.
Starting that young in engineering, Angelo felt alone at times. There weren’t a lot of kids who shared the same interest. Things changed when he joined a high school robotics competition. That led him to discover local DIY groups online and the larger Filipino maker community.
Filipino makers tend to be more resourceful. Americans usually purchase expensive equipment, but Filipinos work with their hands and whatever they have.
