MANILA, Philippines – After 3 weeks of events leading to the competition in the Philippines, a new Mr World winner was crowned on Friday, August 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum: England’s Jack Heslewood.
The 27-year-old brought back the title to Europe 5 years after Nicklas Pedersen of Denmark won the crown in 2014.
In his video profile, Jack said that his proudest moment was when he graduated with a degree on Aerospace Engineering at the age of 21.
“So technically, you can call me a rocket scientist,” he said.
He said that his ambition for Mr World “is to inspire youngsters to learn about science and engineering.”
Jack is also a talented musician, showcasing his drumming skills during the talent show at the Charity Gala and Fashion Show on August 21.
Jack’s other favorite activities include running and skiing. He even participated in the ultra distance Ironman triathlon when he turned 25. He can also speak some basic French and Bahasa, according to his bio.
Jack was also part of the Top 5 during the Top Model challenge. He later won a special award for Best in Barong at the Charity Gala and Fashion Show.
At the press conference after the finals night, Jack was asked how much he had improved since the press presentation on August 8.
“I was enjoying myself from the moment I got here. I was really enjoying. What’s different now is that I have been enjoying even more and more and just taking it all in,” he said.
Even as he competed, Jack said he enjoyed the energy of the people around him and simply had a good time.
For now, Jack and the rest of gentlemen, including the Philippines’ JB Saliba who won the continental title of Mr World Asia Pacific 2019, will have a bit of rest. Jack also said that wants to see more of the Philippines.
“While I am here, I definitely want to see more of the Philippines. I’ve seen some amazing things and I want to see more,” he said.
