Patch Magtanong on Miss International 2019: Grateful for chance to speak about ‘my truth’
'I’m so grateful to have had the chance to speak about my truth, and the truth of all women who have had limitations placed on them based on their gender,' says Patch

MANILA, Philippines – After spending time with her family, Binibining Pilipinas International 2019 Patch Magtanong Friday, November 15, posted a message on Instagram expressing her gratitude to her supporters and for being able to speak about “her truth” at the competition where she finished in the Top 8.

Patch said that while she would have wanted to win the Miss International crown, she knew she gave her best and just left everything to destiny. (IN PHOTOS: Patch Magtanong’s Miss International 2019 journey)

“My goal in the Miss International was to deliver an excellent speech upon reaching the Top 8. ⁣⁣⁣That’s not to say that I didn’t aim to win, but I say that because I was never one to dwell on things outside my control,” she wrote.

“I knew that once I delivered my speech, I would have already done everything within my power, and it would be up to fate or luck whether or not I would get the crown. Standing there with 7 equally deserving ladies, I surrendered everything and I was ready to accept whatever placement would be given to me,⁣⁣⁣” Patch added.

This year, the candidates were given the opportunity to talk about the pageant’s main theme: Cheer All Women. Patch thanked the Miss International organization for giving them the platform to speak. (READ: Patch Magtanong’s Miss International 2019 speech)

“I’m so grateful to have had the chance to speak about my truth, and the truth of all women who have had limitations placed on them based on their gender. It’s not every day you are given a huge platform to speak about something you care deeply about!” Patch said.

“To my country, and to everyone who believed in me, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your support is a prize on its own! To be a Miss Philippines has been the greatest experience of my life, thank you for letting me represent you! Domo arigatou gozaimasu (Thank you very much)!” she added.
