The new MacBook Pros are thinner and lighter, but are more powerful than ever before.

MANILA, Philippines – Apple unveiled the next generation MacBook Pro at the start of its World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, June 11, 2012 (June 12 Philippine Time).

While Apple has updated and will continue to sell its existing 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro models, a third model has been added to their lineup. Built from the ground up, this one is thinner and lighter than previous models, but more powerful and with a Retina Display – similar to the super high resolution display found on the iPhone 4S and new iPad.

To trim down on space Apple got rid of what it calls “legacy technologies” – among them the optical drive, traditional hard drives with spinning platters, and FireWire. Just like the MacBook Air the new MacBook Pro with Retina display runs on flash storage and quad core processors. The notebook computer is 0.71 inches thick and weighs 4.46 pounds.

“The MacBook Pro with Retina display pushes the limits of performance and portability like no other notebook,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “With a gorgeous Retina display, all flash architecture and a radically thin and light design, the new MacBook Pro is the most advanced Mac we have ever built.”

The most impressive feature however of the news MacBook Pro is its Retina Display – the world’s highest resolution notebook display with over 5 million pixels, that is 3 million more than the pixels that are on an HD television.

The Specs of the next generation MacBook Pro are as follows:
