Bb Pilipinas Supranational Rogelie Catacutan:’I want to represent the country well’
Rogelie is ready to compete in the Miss Supranational competition in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland on December 4

MANILA, Philippines – Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2015 Rogelie Catacutan said that she is ready and focused on her goal as she gets ready to compete in the Miss Supranational competition in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland on December 4.

“I’m just focusing on myself. Cause when it comes to exercising, dieting, pasarela (walk) I’ve done that months before. And now I just want to focus on myself. Meditate…it’s not easy to be away from my family, it’s not easy to be away from my country, so when I go there, I want to be a complete woman, I want to represent the country very very well,” she told reporters during the send-off party for her and welcome party for Bb Pilipinas International 2015 Janicel Lubina on Monday, November 9.

The 24-year-old Cebuana beauty said that while’s she ready for the competition, she knows that there’s some pressure on her part to duplicate the success of her queen sisters’ performances.

Bb Pilipinas Tourism 2015 Ann Colis won Miss Globe 2015 last October 8 in Canada, Bb Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Paruh Shah finished 3rd runner-up in Miss Grand International last October 25 in Bangkok, Thailand, and Janicel was part of the top 10 and won the title of Miss Best Dresser award in Miss International 2015 last November 5 in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2013, Mutya Datul became the first Filipina to win the title. Last year’s representative Yvethe Marie Santiago was part of the Top 20.

Rogelie said that Miss Supranational looks for a woman who can walk with personality.

Iba kasi (It’s different). You don’t just go onstage na nawawalk ka lang (that you’ll just walk). You really have to have you’re signature walk and that’s what Mutya, that’s what the previous winners have. And they just don’t walk just the mere fact of walking, but they have this aura kasi na when they walk, parang nagoglow (it’s like they’re glowing). And they are so charming onstage even me, hindi ko alam kung sino ang mananalo (I don’t know who’ll win) on that pageant. And that’s what i want to show in the international competition in Poland,” Rogelie said.

For her national costume, Rogelie will wear a terno designed by Philipp Tampus and a headpiece by Mark Tenchavez.

But what Rogelie is looking forwad to the most is the chance to meet the candidates.

“I’m actually looking forward to see the candidates. I’ve never seen a sea of beauties as many as that and I’m very very excited to see the diverse culture that we’re going to see, mag-shashare kami kung among meron kami  (we’ll be sharing what we have) and I know we will learn a lot from each other,” she said.

She is also looking forward to experience not only the weather, but also some of the places she heard from her predecessors.

Sabi nila kasi may isang part ng Poland na doon sa mountain area, na may hot spring pero outside nag snow. I don’t know what the name is called but I’m very excited na makapunta doon,” she said. (They said there is a part in Poland in the mountain area that has a hot spring, but outside, it’s snowing. I don’t know what the name is called but I’m very excited to go there.)

Rogelie is also the second woman from Cebu to win a title in two years. The first one was Kris Tiffany Janson, who won the title of Bb Pilipinas Interncontinental 2014, and placed 2nd runner-up last year. Asked what makes the Cebuana stand out, Rogelie said: I don’t know, but as what I say in Bisaya esog lang siguro jud-mi or should I say, we’re just strong. And we really have the determination to go further, and we’re very driven.

“We know kasi in Manila it’s so hard for a probinsyana to stand out cause when it comes to experiences, I think the ladies here in Manila are more into that. But being able to win and represent the country, and being from Cebu is really a big thing for us. So hindi namin sasayangin yung opportunity na iyon (We won’t waste that opportunity)…That’s why we’re motivated to get the crown,” she said.

As for what’s next after her competition, Rogelie said she’s open to anything. Prior to being a title holder, she was working in Marriott hotel in Cebu.

Actually the door is still open for any opportunities for me. When it comes to the work I had with Marriott, they’re still actually waiting for me. But it’s up to God on which plan prevails, but I hope everything will work well after my international competition,” she said.  – Rappler.com
