DESIGNER JC BUENDIA celebrated his silver jubilee in the fashion industry on August 27, Monday, at the Marriott Hotel

MANILA, Philippines – Romantic. Classic. Polished.

These 3 words define the artistry of celebrated fashion designer JC Buendia, who celebrated his 25th year in the industry on August 27 in a star-studded fashion event at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

“JC Buendia is truly a rare treasure that gives us another reason to revel and be proud of the ingenuity and talent of Filipino people,” said Metro Society editor-in-chief Raul Manzano. “His creations may have a modern twist, but he never fails to include a touch of locality that serves as a reminder of our heritage.”

Pieces that walked the runway were inspired by some of Buendia’s favorite movies of all time: Downtown Abbey, My Fair Lady, Roman Holiday, Sex and the City Season 6, Les Chorites, The King’s Speech, The American President, Princess Diaries, Memoirs of a Geisha and The Last Emperor.

Here are RAPPLER’s top 10 runway picks:

Buendia is a designer known not only for excellence in his craft but also for his warmth and humility.

I personally experienced his kindness when I was still styling full-time. Even if he was outside the country, he would reply to email and text messages, always accommodating.

In true JC Buendia fashion, the designer rode a bike after the showcase of his collections on the runway; a basket bearing colorful flowers attached to it.
