MANILA, Philippines – The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is roughly bigger than the size of your palm, similar to its predecessor that brought back the classic stylus pen to Samsung devices.
Launched in Manila on October 16 at the Marriott Hotel, we had the chance to play with Samsung’s latest version of their phone-tablet combo.
Here is what we think about it:
1) It has an even better touch feature, the S-Pen stylus.
The S-Pen intelligently vibrates upon every task completed. This feature was first seen in the Samsung Note 10.1 Tablet launched last September. It has 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, a refined tablet to smartphone digital stylus feature that lets you scribble as if you were using a real pen on a palm-size digital Wi-Fi smartphone screen.
The stylus’ stroke is so precise tha you can neatly draw, write and/or do an intense publication layout and then publish it swiftly on the Internet, in real time.
2) It comes with a bigger 5.5-inch and Super Amoled High Definition (HD) screen.
It also has an 8-megapixel camera that shoots noise-free stills with stunning DSLR details with its f/2.6 lense. The back LED flash is a great aide for this exposure.
3) It has a new and powerful 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor.
This allows the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to process more data at a faster speed, seamlessly. It also has graphic-intensified chip upgrades that the Android Jellybean demands.
4) It has a 3100mAh battery.
This is perfect for multi-tasking on the smartphone, since it usually requires or demands more energy.
It takes longer to charge, though, because it has more cells to cover; but at least you can rest assured that the battery will live long enough throughout the day and night as you multi-task and make several phone calls in-between.
5) It has the new Gorilla Glass 2 screen.
This is what protects and keep the device completely scratch free. It also has a removable high-gloss-finished back house.
Other new features to like:
- The device’s interface, that runs on Samsung’s “more user friendly” Touch Wiz program, remains customizable; but this task is rendered faster with a quad core support
- The keyboard set-up has been re-adjusted for people with bigger hands or fat fingers
- The stereo blaster that is great for HD video playback
