The new iPad said to have a high-res screen, a quad-core processor, and LTE connectivity

MANILA, Philippines – The wait for the next iPad may be soon over.

Apple has just sent out invitations to its first big event of the year, and most definitely it will be the unveiling of the iPad 3, or whatever it is they choose to call this one.

The event happens next Wednesday March 7, 2012 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, that’s 2am on Thursday, March 8, Philippine time.

The invite, which says “We have something you really have to see. And touch.” teases a bit of the new iPad, giving you the slightest peek at the device. It is pretty clear that the screen is of a much higher resolution than what we’ve seen on both the original iPad and the iPad 2.

Other specs are up to speculation.

On February 28, just hours before invites were sent out, CNBC on its Twitter account correctly announced that the iPad 3 was set to launch next week. The tweet said the iPad would run off a quad-core processor, and would feature LTE connectivity. It was wrong however about the venue for the event.
